PR Winfield and GD Lane added 83 for the second wicket in the Nelson innings
This had been scheduled as a 2-day fixture on 7/8 March but after the toss had been won by Nelson, the weather closed in and no play was possible on 7 March. Heavy overnight rain meant the chance of any play on 8 March seemed remote but the weather improved dramatically and it was decided to play a 40-over match with a new toss taking place with the West Coast captain again calling incorrectly.
