The Southland Under-20s wicket-keeper, ML Watson, was forced to leave the field about 90 minutes before stumps on the first day after receiving a nasty cut over the right eye from a return with AB Jenkins taking over as wicket-keeper and GD Alabaster fielding as a substitute
This was a trial match to select the Otago Brabin Shield team to play Canterbury Under-20s
