--> Bowling in the Canterbury XI first innings adds 1 run over
--> Bowling in the Canterbury XI second innings adds 4 runs under
--> Bowling in the Ashburton County and South Canterbury second innings adds 1 run under

The match didn't start until just after 4pm on the first day because the Canterbury XI traveled to Geraldine on the second express train.
Ashburton County and South Canterbury were given two and a half hours to score 238 to win the match outright but were 3 runs short when time ran out.
This match was between players from the north of the Canterbury province against players from the south of the province. In the south team there was only one player from Ashburton County, PL Orr with the rest from South Canterbury. The northern team appear to be mainly from Christchurch so have been referred to as a Canterbury XI in this match.
