During the last hour of the match, Mr Lawrence jumped to avoid the ball but his knee gave way so he had to be carried from the field with Mr BV Spooner taking his place
There was confusion at the end of the match when the umpires pulled stumps at 6pm after the 15th over had been completed although the Manawatu captain believed they had claimed the extra half hour available to either captain if a result was possible but the umpires ruled that the half hour had not been claimed
